I had a recent email exchange with my nephew Mike which lead me to ask him a technical question of sorts.

Now, the question could have been easily answered had I merely used Google.

My nephew reminded me that, DUH, I have Google right in front of me!  I can easily get the answer right at my fingertips!

He then nudged me by using a neat little web site called Let Me Google That For You.   It’s a fun way to remind folks that all they need do is use Google.

Since getting a tablet, I’ve been doing more strips about the technology and all the available apps.  It seems that there’s an app for just about anything!

My 199 Oldsmobile Delta 88 LS on its way to the scrapyard.

279,091!  That’s how many miles were on my 1999 Oldsmobile Delta 88 LS when it finally breathed its last.

I bought the car for only $2500.00 back in 2005.  It had 91,500 miles on it.  So, I put on  187,591 miles.

I guess you can say that this car was a great deal.  It cost me next to nothing and ran like a top.  I did routine maintenance and put a little bit of money into it for repairs.  The car just kept going.  I was hoping to hit the 300,000 mile mark, but that wasn’t meant to be.

Now, it’s off to the scrap yard.

Sadly, the Oldsmobile division of GM is no more.  So, new Oldsmobiles don’t exist.  If I want another one, instead of new, I’ll have to hunt around for a used Olds.

But, if most Oldsmobile owners are like me, they’re probably not selling.  Why give up dependable transportation?

Here’s a nice side by side by side comparison of the three top E-Readers.

I own a Kindle Keyboard and really enjoy reading with it. (I don’t think I’ll ever go back to reading traditional books again.) However, the Sony has a lot of nice features. Sadly, you cannot move your Kindle books to the Sony. The Kindle uses a proprietary file format that is not readable on the Sony. If I were to buy the Sony E-Reader, I’d have to re-purchase all my Kindle books in a format compatible with the Sony E-Reader.

I really like the snail character.   I enjoy having him appear form time to time.  A funny running theme in my strip is having the snail always delivering something late to George.  Search in the tags area for “snail” and those strips will come up.

I love my Kindle. I especially love the way it integrates with amazon.com and my local library. All borrowing and buying takes place in the cloud. So, there’s no need to load additional software onto your computer. And your books are always available to you via the cloud and your amazon account.

But, there are other approaches to E-Readers. Sony has a pretty neat approach. The Sony Reader PRS-T1 is loaded with features and runs Android (Linux again, folks!).

If you’re looking for an E-Reader, and, as much as I highly recommend any of the E-Ink Kindles, you may want to give the Sony a look.
