{"id":8026,"date":"2016-07-07T05:00:26","date_gmt":"2016-07-07T09:00:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.georgetoon.com\/blog\/?p=8026"},"modified":"2016-07-06T10:34:35","modified_gmt":"2016-07-06T14:34:35","slug":"portable-scanning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.georgetoon.com\/blog\/portable-scanning\/","title":{"rendered":"Portable Scanning"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Back during my college days, before Google and digital imaging, the race was always on to get a book from the library in order to complete an assigned\u00a0mid-term\u00a0paper. \u00a0Many times, all you needed to do was reference a page or two from the book. \u00a0Predictably, all copies of the book were\u00a0always checked-out by another student. \u00a0And that left you waiting for the book, and the needed information, to complete your paper.<\/p>\n<p>Some students, knowing others needed the book for the same mid-term\u00a0paper, \u00a0were a bit more considerate\u00a0and simply found the pages, paid the ten cents to make a copy at the library&#8217;s copy machine, and then returned the book.<\/p>\n<p>It would&#8217;ve been great if we&#8217;d had\u00a0a portable scanner! \u00a0Then it&#8217;s simply a matter of running the wand over the needed pages, and voila! \u00a0No need to check-out the book or pay for copies.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-8037\" src=\"http:\/\/www.georgetoon.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/vupoint-docking-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"vupoint docking\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.georgetoon.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/vupoint-docking-300x300.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.georgetoon.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/vupoint-docking-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.georgetoon.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/vupoint-docking.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Well, a portable scanner is exactly what I use today. \u00a0And, coincidentally, it was recommended to me by a\u00a0friend who is college professor (now retired). \u00a0He used it in the exact same way I had imagined years earlier. \u00a0To digitally record\/grab information for research papers from various books and periodicals.<\/p>\n<p>When he showed it to me, I quickly saw the advantages, and bought one! \u00a0I use it to scan my cartoons and drawings. \u00a0I use it in my studio and I take it on the road.<\/p>\n<p>I bought one\u00a0a couple of years ago and, even though it works great, these devices have gotten BETTER and cost a lot less today! \u00a0I paid almost $100.00 for mine! \u00a0Now, you can pick one up for around 70 bucks. \u00a0It has better resolution and comes with a docking station so you also use it as a sheet feed scanner! \u00a0Brilliant!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/astore.amazon.com\/georgetoon-20\/detail\/B00I48M9PE\">It&#8217;s in the Georgetoon Studio Store at a great price!<\/a><\/p>\n<p>While I really like my current model wand scanner, this newer device is definitely on my upgrade list!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Back during my college days, before Google and digital imaging, the race was always on to get a book from the library in order to complete an assigned\u00a0mid-term\u00a0paper. \u00a0Many times, all you needed to do was reference a page or two from the book. \u00a0Predictably, all copies of the book were\u00a0always checked-out by another student.
