I logged off and on.\u00a0 I\u00a0 rebooted.\u00a0 Nothing worked.\u00a0 I started to think that this system might even be infected with some sort of virus!<\/p>\n<p>I almost did a restore of the system.\u00a0 I even considered doing a complete re-install of Windows.\u00a0\u00a0 Just before I launched anti-virus software to scan the system,\u00a0 I decided to take a step back.<\/p>\n<p>I made a call to my nephew Mike.\u00a0\u00a0 Sometimes, it&#8217;s\u00a0 good idea to get someone else to look at the problem from a fresh perspective.<\/p>\n<p>As I described the problem, Mike launched Google and did a quick search.<\/p>\n<p>Mike found the answer in just a few seconds.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Uncle Mark?\u00a0 Take a look at your keyboard,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Is your <a title=\"Windows Key\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Windows_key\" target=\"_blank\">Windows key<\/a> stuck?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Sure enough!\u00a0 On the left side of my keyboard, the second bottom key (with the little Windows logo on it) was stuck in place.\u00a0 I dislodged it and all was well.<\/p>\n<p>The Windows key, used in combination with other keys, is a shortcut to open\/launch new windows.\u00a0 For instance, the Windows key plus &#8220;E&#8221; with open &#8220;My Computer&#8221; in a new window.<\/p>\n<p>So, if you use Windows and notice new windows opening all over your desktop when you type, take a look at your keyboard.\u00a0 Make sure that the Windows key isn&#8217;t stuck.\u00a0 It&#8217;ll save you a lot of grief.<\/p>\n<p>Or, you could just run <a title=\"PCLinuxOS\" href=\"http:\/\/www.pclinuxos.com\" target=\"_blank\">Linux<\/a> and not have any Windows headaches.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ever have one of those moments where you&#8217;ve tried EVERYTHING to solve a computer problem and it ends up being something so simple you just want to kick yourself?
