margin:0px !important;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=georgetoon-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=B005890G8Y&amp;camp=217145&amp;creative=399373\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" \/><br \/>\nDave Astor\u00a0wrote\u00a0<a title=\"Dave Astor\" href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/dave-astor\/giving-thanks-for-putting_b_1112387.html\" target=\"_blank\"> a very inspiring column<\/a> over the\u00a0Thanksgiving\u00a0weekend. \u00a0 I met Dave through\u00a0cartooning. \u00a0Dave was the\u00a0Syndicates\u00a0reporter at <em>Editor and Publisher.<\/em> Though the years of attending various NCS events, it was always a pleasure running into Dave. \u00a0And, through social\u00a0media\u00a0and the internet,\u00a0I&#8217;ve\u00a0been able to stay on touch with Dave.<\/p>\n<p>Anyhow, Dave&#8217;s Facebook page lead me to his latest column. \u00a0As I read it, I recalled my own leap into literary adulthood. \u00a0The big jump came in\u00a0Junior\u00a0High School. \u00a0My English teacher assigned \u00a0<em>Great Exectations<\/em> by Charles Dickens. \u00a0I can still recall her telling the class,\u00a0<strong>emphasizing<\/strong> to us, the need to slow down from our\u00a0hectic\u00a020th century pace when reading this novel. \u00a0Dickens required\u00a0patience\u00a0and attention. \u00a0He&#8217;s a very detailed writer.<\/p>\n<p>Now, wonderfully, I&#8217;ve rediscovered all these great literary treasures. \u00a0I&#8217;ve been reading a lot of Mark Twain. \u00a0<a title=\"A Connecticut Yankee on Georgetoon.com\" href=\"http:\/\/www.georgetoon.com\/blog\/the-next-hollywood-blockbuster\/\" target=\"_blank\">I blogged\u00a0about\u00a0Twain&#8217;s <em>A\u00a0Connecticut\u00a0Yankee In King Artur&#8217;s Court<\/em><\/a>. \u00a0I recently finished Mr. Twains two volume work <em>Personal Recollections of Joan of Arc<\/em>. \u00a0I agree with Mark Twain, this is his greatest work. \u00a0If you read only one book by Mark Twain, <em>Joan of Arc<\/em> is the one to read!<\/p>\n<p>Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is also in the wings when I want to go on an adventure with Holmes and Watson. \u00a0I also discovered the early 20th century named James Oliver Curwood and his love of nature.<\/p>\n<p>All these and more are right at my fingertips thanks to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B0051QVESA\/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=oneclilin-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=217145&amp;creative=399373&amp;creativeASIN=B0051QVESA\">The Kindle<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border:none !important;
