{"id":5866,"date":"2013-01-17T05:00:26","date_gmt":"2013-01-17T10:00:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.georgetoon.com\/blog\/?p=5866"},"modified":"2013-01-16T10:08:17","modified_gmt":"2013-01-16T15:08:17","slug":"new-studio-tool","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.georgetoon.com\/blog\/new-studio-tool\/","title":{"rendered":"New Studio Tool"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/e9-NQ6f52Wg?list=UU86i2vIMRbH2owlle0C2s_A\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\n<a title=\"Vupoint Scanner from HSN\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hsn.com\/products\/vupoint-magic-wand-3-portable-scanner-with-color-lcd\/6900543\" target=\"_blank\">I picked up this hand scanner from the Home Shopping Network.<\/a> It&#8217;s the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hsn.com\/products\/vupoint-magic-wand-3-portable-scanner-with-color-lcd\/6900543\" target=\"_blank\">Vupoint Magic Wand 3 Hand scanner<\/a>. \u00a0I looked around and found that HSN offered the best bundled deal. \u00a0The scanner came with additional Windows software, but because I run Linux, I don&#8217;t have much need for it. \u00a0 \u00a0Still, I \u00a0may pass the software disk to a niece of nephew looking for graphic applications.<\/p>\n<p>This thing is great for scanning anything! \u00a0Scan text from books, illustrations and photos from magazines, old photos, scrapbook pages, and in my case, cartoons!<\/p>\n<p>I sometimes use it to scan my cartoons. \u00a0Especially\u00a0my comic strip George. \u00a0(I don&#8217;t have access to my large format scanner. I&#8217;m using a flat bed\u00a0scanner that can&#8217;t anything larger than 11 inches.) \u00a0With this hand scanner, I can simply run it along the\u00a0length\u00a0of my comic strip and I&#8217;ve got it scanned! \u00a0Or, if there&#8217;s a power outage, I can at least scan my artwork and save it digitally until my computer is back up and running. \u00a0Or, simply boot my laptop and continue working on battery power. \u00a0Plus it&#8217;s portable. \u00a0I can take it with my laptop and draw and scan while on the road.<\/p>\n<p>After scanning, simply plug it into your\u00a0computer&#8217;s\u00a0USB port and copy all the scans to the hard drive for further editing.<\/p>\n<p>I scan mostly in B&amp;W at 600 DPI. \u00a0 But\u00a0this\u00a0scanner handles color up to 1050 DPI (I\u00a0misspoke\u00a0in the video when I said 1200 DPI.
