I’ve been doing more and more cloud computing lately. \u00a0I use a lot of Google’s services and applications to accomplish my everyday tasks. \u00a0I find myself using Gmail, Google Photos, Google Docs, and Google Drive. \u00a0I access these programs while using the Google Chrome browser. \u00a0Regardless of which Linux computer or Android tablet I’m on, I can update this blog, email business associates, send photos or comic strips to clients, and never have to worry about\u00a0losing any of my data.<\/p>\n

If you’re a regular reader of this blog, you know that I’m a very devoted Linux user. \u00a0I run Linux on all my computer systems. \u00a0And in running Linux, I have the best of both worlds! \u00a0 I can run Linux and all its\u00a0great programs to create my comic strip features (GIMP, Scribus, etc.) and run the Chrome browser which gives me access to all things Google!<\/p>\n

However, just as I use a Google Nexus Tablet to do everyday tasks, I’m leaning toward\u00a0\u00a0getting a Chromebook\u00a0for mobile computing. \u00a0My research has lead me to a terrific Chromebook at a terrific price!<\/p>\n

The\u00a0ASUS C201 11.6 Inch Chromebook (with Rockchip processor, 4 GB RAM, 16GB SSD, in Navy Blue)<\/span><\/a>\u00a0is a perfect starter Chromebook. \u00a0For under two hundred dollars, it has plenty of memory and processing power. \u00a0And it gives you a battery that allows you<\/a>\"\"\u00a0to do all day computing with having to be constantly plugged in.<\/p>\n

Because I use Linux, would I be missing those programs? \u00a0Not at all! \u00a0I\u00a0addressed this in a previous post here.<\/a><\/p>\n

The point is, a Chromebook would not be my main system. \u00a0I still have rock solid Linux desktops to do all the heavy lifting in my studio. \u00a0But, when I’m out and about, a Chromebook will help me get regular, less demanding tasks done. \u00a0And I can save this data in the cloud and access it later on my desktop system in my studio.<\/p>\n

There’s no need to spend thousands of dollars on a Windows or Mac laptop system. \u00a0 For under two hundred bucks, a Chromebook can meet all your computing needs.<\/p>\n

So, I hope to acquire this Chromebook<\/a> in the near future. \u00a0For the time being, I’m happy to use the Chrome browser on my Linux systems.<\/p>\n

And,\u00a0there is one other option.\u00a0 And this is the beauty of Linux! \u00a0There are many used\/refurbished laptops available at affordable prices. \u00a0 Doing a quick search on Amazon, I found this laptop<\/a>.\u00a0 For only $155.00, you get a FULL computer with DVD drive. \u00a0If I were to buy this, I would certainly wipe Windows and install Linux and run the Chrome browser! \u00a0As I said, the best of both worlds! \u00a0And, you never know when you may come across a used laptop for even cheaper! \u00a0(However, I concede that a Chromebook weighs less\u00a0and is much more mobile with longer battery life.)<\/p>\n

When the time arrives and if I find myself in possession of a brand new Chromebook, I’ll be sure to review it here.<\/p>\n
