Every year at this time, right at the end of November and beginning of December, I’m busy getting my annual Christmas card ready for the mail.  And, no, I don’t run out to the corner drug store to buy my cards.  Being a cartoonist, I have the fun advantage of being able to draw and design my own Christmas card.  It’s something I enjoy doing.  (And I use a desktop publishing program called Scribus running on a Linux desktop system).

Over the years, I’ve noticed that the cost of postage has been creeping ever higher. This little fact inspired  today’s “I Knew That!”

While you’re figuring out the answer, I need to double check my mailing list.  I may have missed a few friends.

Answer: (Click, hold down, and move your mouse to the right of the arrow to reveal the answer)===============> A single postage stamp in 2000 cost 33 cents. The price was raised to 34 cents in 2001.

For some reason, I absolutely love drawing cliffs, rocks, and mountains.  Well, the cartoon ones, that is.

Whenever I sit down at the drawing board to create a George comic strip or one of the comic game panel features, I find myself always adding a rock or a cliff scene or some snow- capped mountains off in the distance.  Those cartoony mountains are pretty easy to draw.  The trick is placing them in just the  right spot in the panel.

Anyhow, here’s today’s “I Knew That!” game panel with lots of cliffs, rocks, and cartoony mountains.

Answer: (Click, hold down, and move your mouse to the right of the arrow to reveal the answer)===============>  The Doobie Brothers.

If you ever saw the movie musical “Oliver,” then you’ll immediately recognize the headline of this post as part of the chorus of the same popular song from that flick.  (It popped into my head as I started to write this post about food and fit the topic nicely.)

And food is such a big part of the holiday season.  From Christmas cookies, turkey and stuffing, pumpkin pies, candy canes and everything in-between, we celebrate the holidays with good food.

So, to celebrate our love of holiday food (and fast food), we bring you today’s food themed “I Knew That!”

Answer: (Click, hold down, and move your mouse to the right of the arrow to reveal the answer)===============> Taco Bell, Wendy’s, Domino’s Pizza, Dunkin’ Donuts,  Burger King, Pizza Hut, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Starbucks, McDonald’s, and Subway.
