he RazoRock Silvertip Plissoft Shaving Brush is made from sythetic fibers, yet wonderflly soft. Surprisingly super soft!

The synthetic knot is fitted into a highly polished and chrome handle that offers a lot of heft and feels quite solid and secure in the hand. In this video I give it a test drive.

This morning I used my Odin razor and had an absolutely awesome shave!  The Odin is a limited edition version of Vikings Blade famed Chieftain safety razor.  It was such a great shave, I just had to update my blog!

The Chieftain hits that “sweet spot” as I like to call it. It’s not too mild, yet not too aggressive.  The Chieftain gives you a really close shave after only two passes and a wonderful nick free, irritation free, BBS shave after three!

For the morning shave,  I loaded a Personna Blue razor blade into the Odin’s razor head, twisted the butterfly doors shut, and went to the business of building lather.   My soap of choice was “What the Puck?!” Shaving Soap by RazoRock (the Orange Sunrise Scent).  It’s a triple-milled hard soap that built a rather nice creamy lather after about 30 seconds of brush loading.  Due to this soap’s hardness, in retrospect, I probably should have given the brush load an extra 30 seconds.  Still, the later was good and dense enough.  However, it was a good thing I used the Odin.  The razor is efficient yet forgiving.

After three passes, my skin was so very smooth!  I finshed it off with La Toja after shave splash and La Toja after shave balm.

All in all, a really terrific shave!

When it comes to my morning shave, I like to rotate soaps and creams.  so tThe next time I around, I’ll lather up with Vikings Blade Sandalwood and Cedar shaving cream (or their Black Ocean).  The extra slickness is wonderful!  The razor just glides across the skin.

I’ve used a lot of safety razors and the Chieftain/Odin is the one that I keep reaching for.  When I want to change things around, that’s when I usually grab the Vulcan, the Chieftain’s long handled big brother.

Want a great mornign shave?  the grab the Chieftain, Odin or Vulcan!

Two new synthetic shaving brushes arrived in the mail today!

It seems synthetic brushes are getting better and better with each passing month and I’ve become a real fan of them!

These new brushes are super softer, perform as good, if not better, than natural hair brushes, and simply look great! The synthetic knots are fitted into some really awesome looking handles! They also generate heaps of lather! Synthetic brushes are lathering machines!

If you do the traditional wet shave, do yourself a favor and try a synthetic brush! You will be pleasantly surprised!

I found a Gillette Old Type three-piece safety razor among my later father’s shaving gear.

The gentlemen on BadgerandBlade.com helped to identify and date the razor. It appears to have been manufactured somewhere around 1920 or 1922. So, it’s pretty much a hundred years old.

I cleaned it up and, this morning, took it for spin.:)
