Jim with catch of the day- a Wide Mouth Bass

Jim with catch of the day- a Largemouth bass

The Memorial day weekend marks the kick-off to Summer.  And, like a lot of America, we took time of from the drawing table to settle in for cookouts, swimming, boating and fishing.

At left is a whopper of a Largemouth bass snagged by my nephew Jim.

I’m having a lot of fun playing around with the time-lapse function on my Asus Transformer Prime. I thought I’d give it a try while drawing a George cartoon.

This enables me to show you a bit of the process, compressed, in how I construct a George comic strip panel.

I start out with a blue line sketch and indicate where things should be placed (approximately). Once I have all the elements mapped out, then I do the final inking. As you can see in this time-lapse, I don’t always follow those blue lines. I sometimes adjust as I do the final inking.

The final time-lapse result is pretty neat. I’m going to try and do more of these. I do need a new set up to support the tablet. My current method, although it works, is still a bit cramped while doing the actual drawing.

Enjoy the show! It goes by fast. Feel free to leave any comments. (Yes, that little jump at the end is me exhaling. My breath accidentally moved the page.)

I recently discovered that the Asus Transformer prime has a time lapse feature. I decided to try it out.

I shot this video from 5 in the afternoon until 10 at night. I was hoping to capture the stars coming out, but I guess I have to explore the settings a bit more.

I set the camera to take one video frame every sixty seconds. So, I compressed five hours of video down to twelve seconds.

More to come!

I had a recent email exchange with my nephew Mike which lead me to ask him a technical question of sorts.

Now, the question could have been easily answered had I merely used Google.

My nephew reminded me that, DUH, I have Google right in front of me!  I can easily get the answer right at my fingertips!

He then nudged me by using a neat little web site called Let Me Google That For You.   It’s a fun way to remind folks that all they need do is use Google.

My 199 Oldsmobile Delta 88 LS

My 199 Oldsmobile Delta 88 LS on its way to the scrapyard.

279,091!  That’s how many miles were on my 1999 Oldsmobile Delta 88 LS when it finally breathed its last.

I bought the car for only $2500.00 back in 2005.  It had 91,500 miles on it.  So, I put on  187,591 miles.

I guess you can say that this car was a great deal.  It cost me next to nothing and ran like a top.  I did routine maintenance and put a little bit of money into it for repairs.  The car just kept going.  I was hoping to hit the 300,000 mile mark, but that wasn’t meant to be.

Now, it’s off to the scrap yard.

Sadly, the Oldsmobile division of GM is no more.  So, new Oldsmobiles don’t exist.  If I want another one, instead of new, I’ll have to hunt around for a used Olds.

But, if most Oldsmobile owners are like me, they’re probably not selling.  Why give up dependable transportation?
