Here’s another video showing a few more features in Android Ice Cream Sandwich.

I really like the MyZine widget that comes with the Asus Transformer Prime. Some folks, in forums I’ve visited around the web, have been pretty luke-warm to MyZine. But, I think that’s due to running in Honeycomb, the previous version of Android.

Now, with Android Ice Cream Sandwich, MyZine has some nice customization!

My new Asus EeePad Transformer Prime tablet is now runnning Android Ice Cream Sandwich.

The most powerful mobile computing device on the planet now runs the most powerful Android Operating System!

Android Ice Cream Sandwich is a terrific upgrade!  The above video gives you a brief look at a few of the neat new features.

Asus promised the upgrade to Android Ice Cream Sandwich on the 12th of January.  Well, they rolled it out two days early!  When I booted the tablet this morning, the upgrade was ready to go.  It took less than ten minutes to get it downloaded and installed.  It also upgraded Flash and installed new software and features for the camera.

Asus really supports this tablet and is pulling out all the stops on providing cutting edge technology (hardware and software) to it’s customers!

Hands down, folks, this is the Tablet to get!

(I know.  The above video could be better.  I’m looking into getting an HD camera. Hopefully, I can reshoot this video in a week or so.  But I was anxious to show it off!)

This past Christmas, my nephews Jim and Mike gave me the most awesome gift ever!  I’m now the proud owner of an Asus Eed Pad Transformer Prime Tablet computer.

This tablet is, hands down, the most powerful mobile computing device on the face of the planet!

I know all you Apple fans out there think you have the the top of the line tablet in the iPad2.  Think again.

It is because the Prime has made reputation being the first tablet to feature the fastest processor in the world.

The Transformer Prime is powered by an Nvidia Tegra 3 Quad-Core CPU.  It handles 3D gaming and HD video with no probem at all.    It runs the latest version of the Android OS, HoneyComb.  The next version, Ice Cream Sandwich, is due next week and the Transformer will automatically update.

The Transformer has a Super IPS+ Panel with 178 degree veiwing angle. You can even use it outdoors!   It has an 8MP camera with autofocus and flash.  Plus it sports supreme sound with Sonicmaster technology.

Here’s a bit of a side by side comparison from one online review:

Processing
We start the comparison checking the processing performance of the two tablets. It is because the Prime has made reputation being the first tablet to feature the fastest processor in the world. The Prime is powered by a 1.4GHz NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad core processor and 1GB of RAM. The second generation iPad tablet, meanwhile, runs on 1GHz dual core Apple A4 processor and 512MB of RAM. The difference is simply clear.

The Asus tablet beats its Apple rival with a quad core processor that performs five times better than a dual core processor.

Display screen
The Prime is rightly a great successor to the 10.1-inch Asus Eee Pad Transformer. The new tablet keeps up the same 10.1-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. The 150ppi display is made of Super IPS+ technology, ensuring brilliant performance. On the other hand, the new version of Apple iPad features a 9.7-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels at 132 ppi.

Camera
When it comes to camera, the iPad 2 is an underdog. The device just has a 0.92-megapixel HD camera in the rear panel and a VGA front camera. Apple has not given much importance to a high quality camera on its iPad 2 tablet. But, Asus has built its Transformer Prime tablet with an advanced 8-megapixel rear camera and 1.2-megapixel front camera for video calls. Well, you can take better quality HD videos and stills be using the Prime tablet.

Some say that the Transformer is not an “iPad killer.”  I disagree. I have one, I’m running it, and it’s light years ahead of the iPad2.

It’s five times faster, has a higher resolution, runs the incomparable Android OS, has thousands of free apps, is incredibly thin, and offers an optional Keyboard dock to turn it into a netbook. It also offers 12 hours battery life as a tablet and 18 hours with the keyboard.

And best of all, Android is based on Linux!  A really big reason why I love this tablet!

Look out Apple!

If you were lucky enough to get a new Android phone or Tablet  or even a Kindle for Christmas, then welcome to Linux!

These devices all run a version of Linux.  Why Linux?  Because Linux is open and free.  These companies can obtain Linux without having to pay a hefty license fee.   They can then modify it to meet their needs.

So, the question remains, if you’re already using Linux in one of the devices, why not use Linux on your desktop computer
Linux is free and easy to use. It’s a snap to install. I use the PCLinuxOS Linux distribution.

PCLinuxOS comes with all you need “right out of the box.”

Simply download PCLinuxOS (Gt the KDE Version, it has the most eye candy), creat a CD/DVD, test it out as a live CD, then install right from the desktop. PCLinuxOS will do the rest!

And you’ll be rid of windows and all it’s problems of viruses, spyware, pop-ups, and trojans.

Resolve to make your computer run better and more securely in 2012. Get Linux.

A recent discussion on Facebook reminded me of a local kid’s show in Cleveland, Ohio. The show was “Franz the Toymaker.” Franzz would open a door and the song, “Go, You chicken Fat, Go!” would begin to play. Franz would then go through the various exercises and calisthenics described in the song.

Back in the early sixties, the song was an outgrowth of president Kennedy’s newly formed Council on Physical Fitness. Well, it was orignally formed by president Eisenhower, but it went through some changes under the Kennedy administration. You can read a brief history of it here.

And Wikipedia notes gives a little more history of the song and it’s  vocalist, Robert Preston:

“In 1961, Preston was asked to make a recording as part of a program by the President’s Council on Physical Fitness to get schoolchildren to do more daily exercise. The song, “Chicken Fat,” which was written and composed by Meredith Willson and performed by Preston with full orchestral accompaniment, was distributed to schools across the nation and played for students in calisthenics every morning. The song later became a surprise novelty hit and a part of many baby-boomers’ childhood memories.”

Growing up as a baby-boomer in Cleveland, Ohio, I can recall how, because of the President’s Council on Physical fitness, gym class became a big priority in elementary school.  And fitness programs followed me right through my entire academic career.  But for me, as a little toddler, it all started with this song and president Kennedy.

I’m sharing the song with you in hopes it’ll inspire you to keep that New Year’s resolution for health and fitness in 2012!

The kids in the video below have the right idea!  It’s a fun song and really helps you to get in the groove with your exercise program.
